WRITING SUCCESSFUL GRANTS
With more than $7.5 million in successful grants, I'm aware that grant writing is more than putting words on paper.
My experience has shown:
- Careful research is needed to ensure proper alignment of both the grant maker and the grantee objectives.
- Chasing money to implement new programs while existing programs suffer doesn't make sense.
- Time management and meeting deadlines are half the battle.
- Stewardship and cultivation of grant makers are vital.
- Final reports that demonstrate outcomes are necessary.
- Budget management is key to gaining and keeping your grant maker's trust.

A multi-channel PrEP education and awareness marketing targeting Black MSM, Latino MSM, and Transgender M to F and guided by feedback from focus groups and zip codes with a high prevalence of new HIV cases, the campaign successfully built on the first "Why PrEP?" campaign in 2015.
